IC Students Shine at Academic Competitions

Students from Indian Crest Middle School participated in the first annual Southeastern PA Academic Pentathlon held at their school on February 26, 2019.  Approximately 40 students competed in knowledge based tests in Literature, Math, Science, Social Sciences, and the Fine Arts.  Many of the materials were themed toward the 1960's and students were given the materials to study approximately one month prior to the competition.  Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals were given to students in each competition.  Indian Crest won 18 medals. 

Max Organek, Braden Sigafoos, Finian Heron, Jon Fonrouge-Benet, and Josh Antill all competed at the Philadelphia North Regionals of the National History Bee on March 10, 2019 at Friends Central Middle School in Wynnewood, PA.  The Bee consists of 4 rounds of 30 questions where students competed to answer the most History based questions pooled from American and World History.  Students add their points for each round to qualify for nationals.   Student Finian Heron qualified with enough points to be invited to compete at the national level in Chicago, Illinois.

Ellie Ross, Aaron Im, and Logan McCormick also competed at the at Friends Central Middle School in Wynnewood, PA on March 10, 2019 in the Philadelphia North Regionals National Science Bee.  This Bee consists of 4 rounds of 30 questions where students compete to answer Science based questions on middle school curriculum.  Students add their points to qualify for nationals.  All three students performed at the highest level and qualified to go to Chicago for the National finals.
