ANNOUNCEMENTS: NEWS FROM TEAM DELTA
Over the past few months, Team Delta participated in an international service project called Read to Feed. This program works in conjunction with Heifer International. Heifer is an organization that works to end world hunger. Team Delta helped this effort by raising funds through sponsored reading. Forevery book students finished, they earned money that was pledged by family and/or friends. Delta read a total of 582 books and raised $3700! This money willbe used to provide a "living loan" of an animal to a family in need. After the family is educated on how to properly care for the animal, their health and standard of living will be greatly improved by what that animal can provide. This might be milk from a cow or goat, eggs from poultry, hair from rabbits, or wool from llamas. Heifer provides over 27 different kinds of animals to struggling families in 48 countries (including the U.S.). Since Delta raised such a significant amount of money, students chose to share 1/3 of the proceeds with The Pajama Program. This program provides new, warm pajamas and books to children in need. These children live in shelters, group homes, orphanages or foster care facilities. Team Delta students worked hard, and their enthusiasm and dedication will make a huge a difference for people in need all over the world!
