The 8th Grade Program of Studies is designed to help our students select courses of study that will impact favorably upon their educational goals, personal development, and vocational future. This guide will be of value if it is used in conjunction with a careful assessment of the student's personal strengths and needs, past academic capabilities, and future plans.

The administration, faculty, and school counselors stand ready to help you make good decisions that are in accord with your future plans. It is wise to consider course selections over the long term because your current selections will certainly affect your options in the future. Your course selections should be planned through consultation with your counselor, teachers, and parents. The course selection process will begin in March and will conclude in June. Due to the balancing of classes and staffing needs, we will not make schedule changes after the last day of school (unless prerequisites were not met).

All courses are available as long as prerequisites are met. Indian Crest Junior High School will take steps to ensure that the lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in any educational and/or vocational program.

The selection of courses is viewed as a contract between the student and the school. We will do everything possible to schedule students into the courses they have selected, but the master schedule construction may dictate the use of alternative course selections for some students. In return, the students are expected to complete those courses which they have selected. We are hopeful that your course selections and resulting schedule will meet your educational needs and enable you to attain your goals.
