Students > Academics > 8th Grade Program of Studies: 8th Grade Promotion

In order to be promoted to the next grade, a student must earn a passing grade in all of his/her core subjects (English, social studies, math, and science). Students who do not pass each of their core courses must remediate the course(s) they failed during summer school. Up to two courses may be remediated during summer school; therefore, students who fail more than two core courses will be retained in their current grade.
