Quarter course
Eighth grade students study two areas of technology in order to design and manufacture a product.
Transportation – The students will develop a basic understanding of transportation systems. Students will participate in problem solving activities involving designing, producing, testing and analyzing transportation systems while studying the technical subsystems of propulsion, structure, suspension, guidance, control, and support.
Manufacturing – The students will learn about various kinds of processes that are used to develop finished products. They will learn cutting, shaping, fastening, and finishing methods. Hand tools and machines will be used to make a project. Students will practice layout and construction skills. Safety with tools and machines will be emphasized.
