Homework Request Policy
Often a student becomes ill for an extended period of time and homework is requested through the Guidance Office. School policy mandates that for the first two days of absence the student should request homework from his or her designated "study buddy", assigned in each class. On the third and subsequent days homework can be requested from the student's guidance counselor who will request work from each teacher. Teachers are given 24 hours to complete this request but usually accommodate by the end of the school day if the request is made early in the morning.
Course Selection
Course selection is an important part of planning for future education and career planning. The counselors will visit each ninth grade social studies class in February to discuss, in general, the courses that are appropriate for different educational and vocational paths. The teachers will then make individual recommendations based on interest and ability. Parents are asked to review this with the student and should call the Guidance Office with any questions or concerns. The process will be repeated in March for the current 8th grade students.
