IC > March Principal's Message
Wow, I do not know about you but after all the snow in February I am looking forward to March, April and the warmer months that follow. It is hard to believe but we are half way through the third marking period, no kidding here, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of spring.
March traditionally marks the first stages of the preparation and planning for the PSSA Reading and Mathematics assessments while continuing the course selection process for the current 7th grade students to 8th grade in 2010-11. In February Linda Scheckenbach and Stacey Buterbaugh, working with the high school guidance staff and the IC office secretarial staff, have completed the 8th to 9th grade course selection process and are now steadfast in starting the 7th to 8th grade course selection process.
7th to 8th Grade Course Selection
- Thursday, March 4th – 7th to 8th Grade Course Selection Presentation, 7:00 PM, Indian Crest Auditorium.
- Friday, March 5th - Course Selection sheets to be distributed to all 7th grade students in homerooms.
- Scheduling begins March 11th in Language Arts classes.
- March 11th – 15th – Team Pride
- March 16th – 18th – Team Legacy
- March 19th – 22nd – Team Justice
- Friday, March 26th - Deadline for Scheduling for all 7th to 8th grade students
The PSSA Math and Reading assessments are slated to begin on Wednesday, April 7 and end on Tuesday, April 13. Make-ups for the assessment must be completed by Friday,
April 16. Please note that students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades take the math and reading PSSA Assessment. 8th grade students will also take the writing and science PSSA Assessment. Here is the “skinny” of PSSA assessments…..
- Grades 6, 7, and 8…PSSA Math and Reading Assessment is from April 7 through the 16
- Grade 8 PSSA Writing Assessment is from April 19 through April 23
- Grade 8 PSSA Science Assessment is from April 26 through April 30
Please look for more information from Stacey Buterbaugh and me through the month regarding the specifics and administration of the assessment.
