Focus Block Information

Part of the middle school schedule includes a Focus block each morning. The intent of the Focus block is to support and engage students in middle school in any area of need or interest.

There are three components to the Focus block:

  • Intervention - Provide support for student academic needs in ELA or Math
  • Enrichment - Provide an opportunity for both teachers and students to explore topics that extend beyond what is taught in the curriculum
  • Engagement - Provide an opportunity for both teachers and students to explore topics that interest them in a relaxed setting led by student or teacher interests

There will be times where students are scheduled for resource room, academic help room, or intervention. There are also opportunities for students to choose their Focus activity. Over the next couple of days, students will work with their Advisory teacher to make selections for the first marking period. The offerings are listed below. The list will also be shared in school with your child.
